In addition to exploring the power of others labeling us versus us labeling ourselves, Lane and Luczak will also discuss how looking at other diverse groups can lead to a richer understanding of Deafhood and one's own journey as a Deaf individual. They will also welcome questions from the audience throughout their conversation." Come learn more about the conference at this link!

7 p.m.
WASHINGTON, DC
Gallaudet University Multicultural Student Program and Invisible Hands, Inc. will be presenting my ninth play This, featuring Christopher Smith, Warren "Wawa" Snipe, and Kriston Pumphrey directed by Fred Michael Beam. What's going to be so fascinating about this production is that two different actors (Snipe and Pumphrey) will play the part of Dwight, so if you're interested in comparing what two different actors/dancers can bring to the same part in the same production, you should come both nights!

And what's This about? This is an elegy to the one person who made a star out of a nobody: Curtis Higgs, a talented dancer cursed with low self-esteem, meets Dwight, a charismatic and funny hard-of-hearing dancer who is incredible onstage and yet exploitative of his friends offstage. It is through the hunger of wanting to be somebody like Dwight, who is unmistakably a star, that Curtis learns the true value of friendship and gains faith in himself, moreso after Dwight dies of AIDS.

Gallaudet University Ely Auditorium
800 Florida Avenue, NE
Washington, DC 20002

Suggested donation is $10. Monies raised at this fundraiser will be used to enable deaf dancers to participate in the International Blacks in Dance Association Conference. Please support this worthy cause!

For more information and ticket reservations, please email invhands@aol.com or call (301) 982-4050 and leave a voice message. As always, hope to see ya there!
