ABOUT THE NEW ANTHOLOGY “I’LL TELL YOU LATER”:
Many Deaf people who’ve grown up in hearing families that do not sign will instantly recognize this phrase: “I’ll tell you later.” It’s an expression often used by hearing siblings and parents when a Deaf person asks what everyone is talking about at the dinner table. Of course, when the meal is done, the hearing person has already forgotten what had been so hilarious. There’s a term for that experience: Dinner Table Syndrome (DTS).
The editor Raymond Luczak is looking for stories, poems, comics (in black-and-white only), artwork (in black-and-white only)–pretty much anything up to 20 pages MAXIMUM–from Deaf survivors of DTS. Written materials can be sent as a Word file (.doc, .rtf, or .docx). Artworks can be sent as low-resolution files (.jpg or .pdf); if interested, Raymond will contact you and request a higher-resolution version. If you’d rather be interviewed about your DTS experiences on videophone (or FaceTime), please contact via email: tellyoulater.book@gmail.com.
Writers and artists whose work are accepted in the anthology will receive two contributor copies. They will retain the copyright to their own work. Handtype Press will publish the book whenever it’s ready.
The DEADLINE is SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, 2024.
